Follow the money - the future of observability
Observability was built for a particular architecture. That context has changed as agentic systems participate in operations.

Observability was built for a particular architecture: software produced signals, platforms collected and correlated them. People interpreted what they saw and decided what to do next. That context has changed!
Agentic systems do more than generate telemetry. They reason across context, make decisions and increasingly participate in operations. This changes what the reliability architecture must provide: evidence that machines can interpret, authority they cannot exceed and a clear record of why an action happened.
Adding AI to the existing observability stack may improve parts of the workflow, but it does not address the architectural shift underneath it.
The market is beginning to expose that distinction. Investment is moving toward new control planes, machine-readable context and safer forms of autonomous action. Capital does not prove which technologies will work or which companies will win, but it shows where the industry expects the stack to be rebuilt.
Established platforms will transform too. Dynatrace is one example. The question for customers is whether they are evaluating that transformation as a new architecture or treating it as the familiar observability platform with AI added on top.
What does this mean in practice? Ask whether your observability architecture can:
- Collect and make sense of signals across infrastructure, applications, data and business domains, rather than correlate events only within separate silos.
- Infer topology, ownership, intent and change context as the environment evolves, or whether every meaningful relationship still depends on manually maintained configuration and metadata.
- Maintain a continuously updated, machine-readable model of the operating environment that agents can reason over, rather than leave context fragmented across dashboards, alerts and tickets.
